Taxi ride home

So i was out getting some drinks with my friends and when we wanted to go home i asked a friend if he wanted to share the costs of a taxi ride home. He said no because he doesn‘t want to spend money for a taxi, he will walk. I said ok but i‘ll drive with the taxi. The he wanted to drive with me because i pay, I said if you drive with me you can pay the half. He said no and so i said i will drive alone. He was pissed and went off, never heard something from him again.

He wasn‘t broke at all. He always flexed with his expensice watches or his clothes but never bought a round of drinks. He doesn‘t have to but then i won‘t pay for him too.

So am I the Asshole for not letting him drive home in my taxi?
