Honest review of every scar treatment that i've tried
1st pic: August 2024 2nd pic: Dec 2024 (Slightly different lighting but both are under sunlight)
My main concerns: Rolling scars, Box scars, PIE
1st treatment (Sep 2024): subcision with cannula + CO2 laser Review: A really significant improvement for my atrophic scars, but the pie persisted. Co2 was great for the atrophic scars but not the hyperpigmentation
2nd treatment (Oct 2024): subcision with needle + pico laser
Review: This time I decided to go for pico laser. Again, saw results for my atrophic scars from the subcision, but the pico laser did nothing for my pie
3rd treatment (Nov 2024 at a different clinic): subcision with needle + yellow laser Review: The derm recommended me yellow laser (which i've never heard of) for my pie and literally cleared like 30% of my pie. (which is insane) Subcision works great as usual.
Takeaway: -CO2 and Pico dont do much for PIE but my derm said they are great for PIH.
-Subcision works best for atrophic scars whether if it's shallow or deep.
-If the clinic try to sell you 6x Co2 or 6x Microneedling, RUN. Scar treatment has to be combination of treatments, TCA, Laser, Subcision etc.
-CO2 laser smooths out skin texture but if the scars are tethered, you will only see 50-60% improvement no mather how many session u do.
-Yellow laser works really really well for PIE so you might wanna consider it, minimal downtime (But I think it's more common in Asia).
-I've done microneedling twice last year, but it really did nothing for me. I see microneedling as more of a "maintenance" rather than an actual scars treatment, they do smooth out your skin a little but that's really it.
I hope you found this useful🙏
