AITA for moving into an apartment with my girlfriend?

Long story short, I (24m) moved away from home to Texas after finishing my degree. By happen stance my girlfriend (24f) is moving down here as well to be a teacher. We decided that we would enjoy living together, plus the cost of living would be cheaper splitting a 2 bed 2 bath apartment down the middle in expenses. Here’s the kicker, my mom is a devout Christian and so are her parents. I told her that me and my girlfriend are going to move in together. Keep in mind she has not met her, but I have known her for 2 years and we just recently became official. My mom got so upset and angry that she called my girlfriend “Ms. Needy”, threatened me with saying me and her won’t have a relationship anymore as she doesn’t want to be involved, said that she would never have a relationship with my girlfriend. Am i the asshole here?
