[Serious] Did being in the closet have long lasting effects on your ability to tell the truth?

Did You hide yourself for so long and omit so much information about yourself that once you came out you were doing that out of habit?

Or what about those lies that you told that painted you as a straight person? Like stuff like oh yah I slept with a woman or I had girlfriends. What happened to those false facts with the people you know?

I actually have a lesbian friend who I know for a fact never slept with men. She's been out of the closet for ten years and she still upholds this lie that she slept with men. It's kind of like she made the bed and has to permanently lay in it.

I'm kind of just curious how people handled that part of coming out and if it had any long term effects.
