Jury Duty/Childcare Conundrum?

Both my partner and I were called for jury duty in the same week, different courthouses. He is currently the primary caregiver for our 10 month old baby, who isn’t in daycare yet. He called the number and was instructed to fill out and mail back the form asking for an excusal, which was denied (not sure why that’s not a valid reason???) and he’s rescheduled.

I still reported during my week, but because I called the number on the second to last day of the week at 7:30 AM (I honestly forgot … because 10 month old baby…) this was considered late and failure to report so now I’m rescheduled AGAIN for the same week as my partner’s rescheduled service, still a different courthouse.

There’s no option for either of us to postpone or request to be excused anymore on the new summons and our childcare conundrum is still there. We don’t have any family in the area to watch the kid and he doesn’t have daycare options yet because of waitlists and finances. What are we expected to do especially since it’s not exactly something we can plan for when you don’t know if you’re going to serve until the night before?
