What does everybody play on bass right after you pick it up in public? (no warming-up)

Hi, I am asking this just for curiosity and only to have some talk. That's not about "how to show off in public when you're not warmed up and being not that good at playing" we all want to perform inside the band no matter the techinal level and nobody should care...

That said, I think everyone probably faced it. Let's imagine the situation: you have your live show scheduled with the band at a club/event, you walk on the stage for the sound check but the your buddies that you invited for the night are already there... maybe they never saw you playing before and don't even know what's a bass, and seems they only wait for you finally grabbing the instrument and rock something on it. On the top of that, it's cold, your hands are freezing and yet you're supposed to care about the tone and fix it... What to play?

Or the common situation when you enter a music shop and want to try an expensive bass, so can't ignore the subtle pressure of acting and "playing" like a professional, or at least to do not sound weird in front of the saleman of the outsider dude who's just very curious and it's there for buying his little daughter a present...

Or, you go to work and you have your practice session right after, so you brought the gear with yourself... Your collegues find it out and ask you "Oh please can we see the (bass) guitar??" so then you can't just show it but of course you need to play something and with the unplugged bass... What would you do in such situation?

I'm asking because I really suck when Im not warmed up... I'm a metal player mainly and need a lot of uninteresting exercises and scales for my fingers to be "ready" and whatever else I could play in the meanwhile it just sound boring to me... I also learned some cool solo stuff to play on bass with slap and so on but if I don't practice that specifically for more than a week Im gonna sound like a mess lol

So how does everybody handle that?
