Breaking up with Amazon
It really feels like I'm ending a long term dysfuntional relationship.
Cancelled Prime. Daughter was sad to lose access to some shows she likes, but she understood.
Cancelled Kindle Unlimited (sorry authors who depend on it; I'm willing to buy your books from somewhere else)
Didn't currently have an audible subscription, will keep occasionally using my library of already-purchased audible audiobooks and carry on. I might buy more from Kobo eventually, but can also borrow from the local library and I'm not a big user of audiobooks.
My 700ish Kindle books and I have safely migrated over to Kobo (Canadian company owned by a Japanese company) before the nefarious Kindle download deadline. I've been using Kindle for 14 years.
Next I'm removing my credit card info from the Amazon site to make it harder to "accidentally" order things from there. I will buy what I need from other places.
I think that's everything.
