Guide to Chennai for someone coming from North India

Vanakkam everyone.

Accepted a job opportunity from a company in Chennai. I hail from the mountains, Himachal. Have never visited the south.

The company is in Thiruvanmiyur. I am just going blind this time as I have considerably travelled the north but not here.

I will be landing tomorrow evening. If anyone could please guide me as to what to do and how to hack through my way in chennai, as I do not have anybody else to ask from. Im very respectful to cultures and learning a little tamil already. I like partying and hanging out with people, exploring stuff. I do have fair experience in living away from home.

I just need some guidance/cheat codes to live comfortably here for whatever time i will be living. Somebody told me not to go for autos, and rather use red taxi app, compared to ola or uber. Bonding with people is easy over beer and cricket, and Beaches are good places during nights than evenings, so idk i thought who is better to ask than the folks Chennai actually belongs to
