Summiting Pikes
Hi all!
My husband and I are visiting your beautiful area the beginning of September. We love hiking and have done quite a few the past couple years, but nothing as ambitious as Pikes as we have never done a 14er. I have been researching online, but haven't quite gotten the question I have answered. I know the weather on top of the mountain is unpredictable (speaking of which, is there a website you all trust to look up weather info before hand?), but does anyone have any insight to what it may be like when we are going? For example, one post I saw mentioned it's windy in the winter, is that all year?
I may as well also ask, does anyone have any packing tips for things we may not be thinking of that we may need atop the mountain? For example, should we invest in some sort of face covering for the wind?
Thank you in advance! I am so grateful to be experiencing the beauty you all call home again! :)
Edit: thank you to those who have answered so far! Just to clarify, we are planning on hiking up and riding the train back down
