Question for those who take a daily anti-histamine

Does it help you be less itchy overall, or does it stop the welts/raised marks from appearing completely? I have had dermatographia since I was in 6th grade, and it isn’t super severe other than causing me to itch uncontrollably once or twice a week, and if I bump into something or accidentally scratch my face etc., it will leave a noticeable raised mark. I take Zyrtec occasionally when I get itchy, but I haven’t really noticed a difference. And I still think my skin would react with or without the Zyrtec. Thoughts? I have never been to a dermatologist or allergist but I am thinking about it. I kinda just thought one day my dermatographia would go away (the same way it randomly appeared), but it hasn’t and I am 22 now. TIA
