An In-depth Look Into Grace Thorp
Edit (11/22/2023): My entire Streamable account was deleted, along with all the clips I've made for this post. NotSoErudite made a video going over my entire post, which includes the clips I linked here. So if you need to see them, you can watch her video. I also still have all the clips backed up on my computer, but it would be too much work to repost all of them. So if anyone needs a specific clip, just DM me.
There’s been a lot of back and forth related to this whole Thorp family business. I’ve seen people like Chudlogic and Zonia say that these people don’t actually believe the things they argue for and are just trying to get clout and clicks by making outlandish statements.
Short Answer: Unfortunately, this isn’t actually the case. Yes, Ben Thorp is 100% hungry for clout, but they are 100% NOT putting on a performance.
Ever since Grace first appeared on Destiny’s stream to debate him about Crowder, I’ve been falling faster and faster down the Thorp family rabbit hole on Youtube. And after going through ~29 hours worth of VODs, I can say with absolute certainty that even though some of the clips from their streams look sensational, almost all of their family interactions are also peppered with other forms of very casual and less “flashy” instances of emotional and psychological abuse. And because I wasted so much of my life sifting through all of this shit, I felt the need to write this long-ass schizo post in a desperate attempt to give some justification for me willingly putting myself through so much self harm.
Note: All links are Streamable links, as I would prefer not to directly link to Ben’s channel and give him more views.
Grace Replacing Her Mother
It should already be pretty clear to anyone that’s seen Grace on stream that she has major issues with her mother, Cortney Thorp, so this is probably a good starting point. A lot of people claim that Cortney is a victim of both Grace’s father, Ben Thorp, and Grace herself. This is a completely understandable conclusion to come to if you’ve seen any of their interactions with Cortney, but that alone doesn’t quite capture the full picture.
The Thorps are a Catholic family with 6 children who were all homeschooled to some extent. Grace is the eldest child at 20 years old, and the youngest child is 10 years old. Grace has talked about how her mother neglected her and her siblings, which forced Grace, at around the age of 7 or 8, to have to take up the role of the “second mom” while she was supposed to be homeschooled. This led to Grace developing a lot of resentment towards her mother over the years, but everything started to boil over in the beginning of March 2023, when Cortney decided she was going to leave the family and start a new life.
On March 24th, 2023, Grace starts a live stream where she is clearly having an emotional breakdown
In this stream, Grace talks about how:
- 1.) She doesn’t have a free relationship with her siblings because she’s now like their mother
- 2.) When she and her siblings were supposed to be homeschooled, Grace had to watch and take care of the kids for the entire day because her mother never did anything, and now she feels her mother has completely abandoned her instead of letting her have her own life.
- 3.) She quit being homeschooled at 13 because her family was like a “cult” that didn’t want her to go out and make friend
- 4.) She’s turning into a mess and is always made to feel guilty.
On March 31st, 2023, the family had an 8 hour stream, where they argued with Cortney over Discord. The majority of the stream was between Ben and Corney, but there were a few moments where Grace joined in.
During the times where Grace was on stream, she leveled a number of accusations against her mother. There were a few things Cortney admitted to, but she didn’t comment on any accusation that could get her into legal trouble.
Things Cortney admits to:
- 1.) Telling Grace, when she was 16 years old, that she hoped she killed herself because Cortney felt Grace was stealing her husband.
- 2.) When she left the family that month, she left a voicemail to the kids, telling them she didn’t want to be their mother anymore.
Note: There was another stream, 4 months before this one, where Cortney told Grace that she treated her so poorly when she was younger because she was “crazed with jealousy” at how close Grace was with her father.
The other accusations Grace makes are from back when Ben was still a school teacher and Cortney was a housewife that was supposed to be homeschooling the kids. Grace accuses Cortney of:
2.) Never taking care of the house to the point where they had rats and moldy dishes in the kitchen.
3.) Forcing Grace to fake documents related to Cortney homeschooling the kids. Cortney says “I don’t remember that”, but Grace goes into such elaborate detail about the process that I’m more inclined to believe her accusation is true.
With the Crowder stuff coming out just 1 month after these events (April 27th, 2023), it’s no real surprise that Grace ended up hardcore projecting her experiences with her mother onto Crowder’s wife. She’s not making arguments for attention. She actually believes what she says.
Accepting Father’s Abuse
Now that we’ve gotten a better look at Grace’s history with her mother, there’s a much clearer picture of the Thorp family dynamic and why Grace seems to be so attached to her father. When a child experiences neglect and abandonment, they are much more likely to tolerate and excuse other forms of abuse from important people in their lives, as the fear of losing that person significantly outweighs the pain they experience being around them.
From all the VODs that I’ve seen, Grace has expressed, on multiple occasions, that one of her biggest fears is turning out like her mother. And this vulnerability is a common vector of attack that Ben uses to keep Grace in line.
There’s 1 stream, in particular, on April 17th, 2023, where Grace gravely offends her father. And from that point on, he is just endlessly rude and mean towards her while poking at her insecurities. And as he is doing this, she is just smiling and nodding along with him while saying he is exactly correct about every negative thing he says about her. Over the course of the stream, Grace is slowly broken down until she is left crying and insulting herself at the end of the stream.
So, what was the initial offense that led to this interaction?
Grace tried to sing along to Ben’s joke
It was from this moment that the mood shifted completely. There’s going to be a lot of clips here, but they are all essential to better understand the dynamic between Grace and her father.
- 1.) Ben begins to berate Grace for jumping into the joke and “pushing him aside”. Grace agrees and says she is the problem, but then Ben gets upset because she’s making herself look like a victim, and he calls her obnoxious.
- 2.) Ben begins to compare Grace to her mother and tells her that, just like her mother, if she can’t handle him criticizing her, then she should just leave. He then says that offering criticism is him being “overly generous”, to which Grace wholly agrees with everything he just said.
- 3.) Ben tells Grace that he offers her too much support and not enough criticism, and her “acting like a victim” causes people to flock to her aid and try to destroy the family, just like with her mother.
- 4.) Ben says that he has no intentions of changing how he treats Grace, to which Grace responds by saying she’s the one that needs to change her personality.
A bit after this point, Grace had to go and take care of the kids while her dad streamed. She comes back a few hours later, and Ben goes right back to criticizing her a little more about how poorly she’s taking care of the household before letting her take over the stream for the rest of the night.
- 1.) Ben compares Grace to her mother again, and says that she’s allowed to fail and leave too. He guilts her by saying things may be a little harder on him and the kids, but he can just hire a maid because her responsibilities are so easy.
- 2.) Ben leaves the stream and has Grace take over. Grace talks to the stream about the conversation she just had and slowly begins to cry and say she’s afraid she’s going to be just like her mother.
- 3.) Grace continues to cry and says she can’t be a different person. She then calls herself a loser for crying.
Grace accepts the abuse she receives from her father because she believes it’s warranted. She believes she’s a problem and a nuisance for her father, so she has a strong desire to win his approval by doing whatever he says. At least for me, this seems to explain why she has been doing whatever she can to help him grow his Youtube following.
And this directly leads us to the most disturbing part of this post….
Ben Sexualizing his Daughter
Just 2 days after that stream with Grace crying, on April 19th, 2023, Grace and Ben appeared on another streamer’s channel, named Whoremaxxer. Whoremaxxer is a streamer that is mostly known for appearing on the Playing With Fire Youtube channel (Alex, the pickup artist) livestreams as a guest to go on e-dates, where he acts creepy towards the women.
Throughout this stream, Whoremaxxer sexually degrades Grace on multiple occasions, and both him and Graces own father encourage her to do increasingly sexual things on stream in order to get more people to come to the stream. There’s even one moment in the stream where Grace’s father laughs while saying despite the fact that Grace is smiling, he knows she’s going to start acting like a victim again and be upset with him for weeks after the stream ends.
- 1.) Whoremaxxer and Ben tell Grace to put on some lingerie to attract more viewers to the stream. Ben then makes a joke about Whoremaxxer popping Grace’s “e-cherry”.
- 2.) Grace returns to the stream in a corset. Whoremaxxer makes some sexual comments to her, and Ben tells Grace to show the stream her body.
- 3.) Ben asks Grace if she’s on their “team”, and tells her to shake her tits and ass to get more viewers in the stream. He then makes a joke about how Grace’s mother wouldn’t like what she’s doing.
- 4.) Whoremaxxer talks about how he wants to sexually violate Grace. Ben laughs and says that even though Grace is smiling now, she is going to act like a "victim" when stream is over.
- 5.) Ben tells Grace “put them up against the glass for the boys” in reference to her breast, to which she stands up so the stream can get a closer look at her chest.
- 6.) Ben compares Grace to her mother again, and says she doesn’t have too much time until she’s ugly like her mother, so she needs to use her looks while she has them to get more viewers.
- 7.) Grace does a sexy dance for the stream.
There’s 1 last thing I wanted to bring up. When I randomly googled Ben Thorp, I came across a Kiwi Farms thread back from February, where Ben seems to be trying to promote his stream. He describes Grace as a “10/10” and even talks about how he’s trying to get Milo Yiannopoulos to date his daughter.
Ben Thorp will use his daughter in any way he feels will get him more views. All that I’ve posted above seems to explain why Grace flirts with any popular male figure that she can get into contact with. It’s for her dad.
Destiny has already mentioned that he’s given Grace perms to his Discord. No amount of complaining is going to change that, so I don’t recommend people try to do that. Personally, I don’t necessarily have a problem with Grace showing up on stream, but I don’t think we should be giving any attention to her father. If Grace wants to come on to talk about a specific subject, like when she went on stream to debate Vegan Gain, I think that’s fine. It was pretty funny. But I don’t think it would be responsible to have her on and focus on her dysfunctional family situation for an extended period of time unless the engagement is similar to Destiny’s recent JCS style interview with Grace and her father. It shouldn't be used in a joking way as a promotion for the father's Youtube channel. Ben Thorp’s goal is to exploit his family members in whatever way he can in order to get more viewers on Youtube, and I think we should be careful in accidentally playing into that.
