Wtf is going on here?

I find it hard to believe that we’ve had knowledge of criminal illegal immigrants, did nothing about it and now ALL OF A SUDDEN, ICE swoops in there to save the day. This feels like some kind of media ploy. Can someone find the reasonable answer here?
