U.S. Wars, Resources, Money, the CIA, and Decades of Oligarchy

I was arguing with my roommate about his belief that the U.S. is worse than other countries like Russia, China, etc. He claims that “The U.S. purposely starts wars to gain money and resources,” that the U.S. “never cared about socialism and communism—it was just a ploy to go to war for money and resources.” He also argues that the U.S. has funded the war on drugs purely for profit, citing the Afghan war with opium and cocaine, along with the cartels. He believes that the CIA alone has done more harm than countries like Russia and China. According to him, the U.S. is understandably the “most evil country” and is not innocent at all. He also claims that the U.S. has been an oligarchy for decades, long before figures like Elon Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Gates, etc. He argues that the military-industrial complex, tobacco companies, and the oil industry have pushed the U.S. into perpetual wars for their own profit, as well as to profit the government.

Do any of his claims hold validity, or is he just another brainwashed anti-American American?

Sources would be appreciated.
