Getting a Doberman

I recently received a call from my dad saying he’s getting rid of his Doberman. He told me he is bringing him to me next weekend. I love this dog. The downfall is my dad lives 4 states away, so I have only been around him 3-4 times as the Doberman is 16 months old. I’m excited to take him on but I live in an apartment. My dad has plenty of room for him to run at will. He’s got a doggy door for him to burn his energy throughout the day at will. I am a big runner 3-5 miles a day, so I’m not too concerned with getting his energy out it will eventually just after work. I also live in downtown of a major city with minimal room to play fetch and let him just stretch his legs on a daily basis. The reason my dad is getting rid of him is because he’s put his golden doodle and boxer in the hospital while fighting. I have no dogs currently, so luckily that will not be an issue. Is there any recommendations to accommodate a bigger dobe (98lbs) in an apartment? Does anyone have any advice on transitioning an older(16 months) Doberman from essentially free to rome to an apartment? I plan on getting professionally trained with him. For the first month or two I just want to make this as smooth as possible before I overwhelm with too many things at once. With that I want to see what exactly I need to work on with him as far as day to day behavior. Any help is appreciated.
