How do you get activity points?

I'm struggling to find out how to get activity points. I believe it's from playing games, but if I play a manager match, and win I get nothing, and a h2h, nothing, then a vsa, I might get something, but then I play manager mode again and actually get points for that one game, can someone please help me out here. Is it a glitch? Or is it just me? Or am I even doing it right?
