Job searching has me tired

I was laid off in March 2023. I did land a job through a friend in May 2023, but it is not what I like to do, it was a 25% pay cut and unless it gets funded as a permanent position, the job ends in September.

I work in Communications and was there when the internet, social media, computer video editing, etc. started to become mainstream in the industry.

Looking for work has worn me out.

The social media manager I was back in the day is not what is needed now. Data analytics (more than Google analytics) is a requirement. Coding (I can do HTML and understand CSS, but JavaScript is ahhhhh).

Then there is the major employer in my area who has hired 20-somethings (one literally right out of college) for Communication Manager positions. These are positions I am more than qualified for (they didn't want social media or data analytics). I actually made a complaint about ageism, and it was taken seriously, but when Comms positions come up there, I am like "why bother?"

I keep thinking I should learn new skills, but at 52, I am tired. I can learn on the job just fine and am willing to, but in my industry there is a lot to learn and it's hard to know where to focus new learning.
