We know about Barcelona's anti-tourism attitude now, but does anyone talk about Toledo? Locals were pretty unfriendly there
I like to think of myself as a courteous travel, and often enough.......respect gets respect. Even in Barcelona, Madrid, Granada, Valencia, Ive personally never experienced any of the issues in the news. I also went to plenty of smaller towns too like Rhonda, Cordoba, and Segovia. There was one exception that absolutely bucked that trend........and that was Toledo. Holy crap! the coldness and absolute contempt to tourists was profound. I got the vibe that everyone in that town is at the end of their pitiful rope with tourism. I had never wanted to finish a tour so fast in my entire life. I dont think of all of my travels in Europe that I have ever felt the "vibe" of discontent towards tourists as there, and this includes places like Venice, Rome, Paris, etc.
What gives? Why is there a particular cauldron of hostility and angst in Toledo in particular?
