Is this normal or am I in danger?

When I put my finger on my tuning machines or any other metal part of my guitar, a lot of the feedback hum disappears. I know it’s normal when muting the strings, but should it be muting the hum when I touch the guitar’s hardware? I’m slightly concerned that my electric guitar is drawing too much of a current and might shock me or damage my house or gear. Thanks for the help!
