I am BEGGING you not to get K-Tip Extensions!

(At least for those with my hair type - fine, thin, straight)

I was happy with my hair health and length but decided to go with K-Tip extensions because I wanted more volume. My tech emphasized that K-Tips did little to no damaged to the existing hair when cared for properly. I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger, I looked at her prior work and did a full consultation with my "specialist." I was thrilled with the results after the installation and had previously looked at a ton of examples of good vs. "shotty" work, this was good work (as far as I know). I had them in for a total of 4 months and wore my hair down a vast majority of the time. I treated my extensions like a newborn baby, I got a loop extension brush and satin bonnet to sleep in; I gently and throughly brushed them from bottom to top. That being said, I missed being able to to slick my hair back so I scheduled an appointment with my original tech for a removal, at least for a little while to let my hair rest. Now I have traction alopecia. During the removal appointment my tech continuously mentioned how well I'd taken care of my hair and that there was little to no matting, I was excited to see how my natural hair had grown but when she blew my hair out it just... wasn't there. I easily lost 60% of my hair density and am devastated. I've invested in 5% Minoxidil, rosemary oil, biotin supplements and hair masks to hopefully get back the hair I once had, but its going to take months if not years.

Heed my warning PLEASE, get a halo extension that isn't constantly pulling on your scalp. If you're on the fence about getting K-Tips DON'T, embrace your natural hair or invest in other, healthier options.

Now I'll to return to grieving my full head of hair.
