How do I tell the new neighbour who thinks she’s entitled to a parking space, I actually own it?
Hey, i have just moved into a small housing estate in a small village.
There are 6 houses in total and there’s a small car park out back. There are two spaces directly infront of my house and garage. We have two cars and have been parking the cars in those spaces. The neighbour has blocked me in numerous times as she thinks she’s entitled to one of those spaces. She has parked to close that i couldn’t even open the door and moving her car into that space when i move mine. Yet every time she has not knocked on our door about it.
After checking the appraisal report, we actually own those two spaces in the car park and she thinks she is entitled to that space. The previous owners were an old couple and they didn’t have a car so i assume the neighbour had gotten too comfortable.
What do i say or do? What’s a reasonable way to go about this? TIA
EDIT:Thank you for everyone with genuine advice, this is new to me and not something I have ever experienced. Some of your comments have really made me laugh. I am still trying to read all the comments but i would like to make some things clear.
I am 18 for all that are wondering.
I have changed some little details so that ultimately if anyone who knew me and knew these things about me wouldn’t immediately know it was me as quite frankly some of the topics i have talked about are sensitive and all some of you care about is the legitimacy of this.
I have moved into this house with my partner whom i have been with for the better half of 3 years. Together we have saved up enough money for a very decent deposit on a house as this was a goal for both of us. I completely one year at college and was working 2 jobs alongside that, after this i managed to get an apprenticeship. My partner is also an apprentice and the apprenticeship is one of the best in the country, one which comes with a significant amount of money. Enough money that we are able to buy a 140k house and live a comfortable life.
My mum is an alcoholic and it is unbearable to live with someone like this and i suffered for years as I was too young to be able to do anything about it. This is not something any of you can understand, unless you have experienced this yourself. This is why i was so driven to save up as much money as i could to buy myself my freedom. In which i bought my car and the house. If you put your mind to it you can do anything.
With the house itself, there is a private car park and all the houses own plots of land in this car park for their designated parking spaces. There isn’t any numbers or bays.
I’m sorry this may have been a silly question to ask, but i’ve never had to be in a situation like this before, i just wanted some advice on how to avoid confrontation, arguments, lack of evidence, etc. I just wanted to handle this in the best and most appropriate way and had a little advice before I actually go and talk to her. Sorry if this wasn’t clear before.
Thanks for all your help, much appreciated x
On another note, some of you are hilarious and some of the comments are wild
