Xbox controller

I'm using an Xbox controller and almost everything seems to be working fine, except for one thing. I can't switch abilities. Pressing l2 does absolutely nothing for me. I've already confirmed that the controller works fine so that can't be the issue.. anyone else with this problem or knows how to fix this?
