S2E8 Question

Firstly, amazing show. I adore it and can’t get enough of it. I have a question, though.

Why did Lestat come to partake in the play if he loved Louis and Claudia? He had to have known his joining the play would ultimately kill Claudia and likely Louis? Couldn’t he have warned Louis instead to escape?

I don’t think it’s a plot hole as much as I don’t understand the character motivations.
