Stopped laser hair removal for years

I had 12 sessions of laser hair removal (originally supposed to be 8, but still had hair growth so i got an additional 4 sessions) for underarms and my last session was around 2018 (6 years ago). My hair growth after that was still thick and quite alot (tho not as much as when i first started), but I got frustrated with how many sessions they kept wanting to add and was also starting to get very busy at the time. In between my sessions, I was told I could only shave, not wax because waxing could negate the whole process.

I’m thinking of resuming my laser removal treatments in a different place. Since it’s been years, would I have to start from scratch again (e.g. 8-12 sessions)?

((Also, for some reason I have it in my head to not wax still because I feel like it would negate the first 12 sessions I had, so ive still been shaving since 2018. Would waxing now waste the first 12 sessions I had or would it be fine?))
