Reporting an advocate to Maharashtra bar

TLDR: I want to report a scam artist who is also an advocate to the MH bar. Could they identify who made the report if I did?

Hi all.

An ex-family friend based in MH used to provide accounting services to my relatives. This ex friend is also an advocate. The couple he provided services to are quite aged, 86 and 78, and somewhat senile.

While providing services, he never charged them, instead cultivating a weird child-like relationship with them, e.g. trying to be there any time they needed help, calling them mother and father etc. Also convinced the couple to invest tens of lakhs in several poorly conceived business ideas, none of which took off because the funds kept getting diverted to fancy vacations, new vehicles and electronic gadgets.

These events transpired over the course of several years. The couples’ children are based in the US and when one of the couple had a stroke during Covid, their kids were not able to help them with health issues due to Covid related travel bans. This CA/advocate of course swooped in eager to continue priming the golden goose.

I learned of these events recently, realized what scam was being pulled and alerted the family of the issue. The next time the ex friend asked for money, I immediately got on the phone and held him accountable for prior “loans”. He lost his temper and threatened the couples children, telling the couple that if they did not lend him the money, he would arrange for an FIR to be filed against the kids, such that they would not be able to leave India to go back home to the us if they traveled here.

I’ve already consulted with a lawyer and been advised the threats are empty, but to file a complaint at a local police station and alert the MH bar association of the behavior of this advocate for appropriate action to be taken.

The family wants to know if the ex friend could tell who filed the complaint with the bar association or not. They understandably fear retaliation due to this scoundrels connections in their local police station.
