How would you bring up signing a prenup?
Hi everyone,
I'm about to get married(maybe) and was recommended by friends to get a prenup. We've been fighting a lot about budgeting, wedding costs, me buying my parents some clothes with my leftover money...etc.
Most friends probably don't have one, but we have a few concerns such as: - his family gave us 75% of the downpayment, my family gave 25%. But the home is registered currently at 50-50 ownership. -his family also lost 100k selling his old condo due to issues that has nothing to do with me. But they did take loss for us to buy the current place. So even though we fight and clearly he's also feeling like he's settling he won't bring up breaking up because of the money on the house....etc. -plus the home we have probably will only sell for $150k less than when we bought it and would be huge loss for all. -I make slight more but also have more potential and job security and pension. His company is family owned with no retirement benefits so that could be a liability for me in the future if he lost his job...etc -inheritance from both sides of parents eventually
I mean we're not super rich to have to protect so much assets but I heard sometimes due to alimony or other issues a divorce will drag on for ages while incurring a huge legal bill.
But also people have said it really completely destroys relationships for good.
Could you guys let me know your thoughts or maybe things you've heard?
Thank you so much
