Charlie’s Custom Clones
So, I have heard the good and the bad about Charlie’s. I want to post about my experience with them. When I first got into the gun world I may or May not have first been drawn to the flashy ar’s (war sport, salient, etc) and I’m not saying they aren’t good guns, but during my venture To find ideas for my first self built ar15 I came across Charlie’s clones site. Their site is what got me hooked on clones in the first place and is what made me choose a CQBR/mk18 as my first build. My experience with Charlie’s is this: they are a company that I’m happy exists. Yes they sometimes have prices that are higher then others, but they also actually have the stuff in stock. Other places may have lower prices listed, but they have how much inventory and have the stuff you need in stock when? I don’t like waiting months and hoping I catch a small inventory drop by one of the other clone companies to MAYBE get the parts I need. I don’t have the patience nor do I have the luxury of sitting around and waiting for parts to randomly be available for slightly less money. Charlie’s clones always has whatever I need in stock. So far to date I’ve build more clone uppers then I can keep track of using them as my main source for parts. I just finished an HRT build that 90% of the stuff came from them. They have stuff in stock no one else does, and I also don’t have to harass them for updates on my order. They send email updates all as the order is process updating me automatically. Plus when I buy stuff from them I know it’s going to be high quality, not some beat to shit garbage that I’ve found other places. Also, I know I’m getting what I pay for. I won’t name names but TWO, as in more then one, of the other clone companies has sold me “factory 10.3” colt barrels that turned out to be chopped barrels. Or I’ve been sent the wrong parts, or barrels not matching their description such as getting a standard profile 10.3 in place of a socom profile. That kind of stuff doesn’t happen when I order from Charlie’s Clones. I have seen people bitch and moan about prices. Here’s the deal, if you can’t afford the clone game then get out of it. Or if you have 20 hours to spend looking for a part that will save you $50-100, you should focus your time on something more important as that equates to making $2.50-$5.00/hr for that time you spent finding the perfect lucky deal. Sorry, but I don’t have the luxury of doing that, I couldn’t afford to pay the bills if I did. I am thankful that they exist because if they didn’t who knows if I ever would have started cloning. New to this site, but not new to cloning.
