The Nick Saban Challenge

After messing around with Dynasty Mode since early release and with the patch that rolled out today, I've decided to officially start the "Nick Saban Challenge." The aim for this approach is to not rebuild programs, but to build up my legacy to be the GOAT coach of College Football and surpassing Saban!

Here are the ground rules if anyone else wants to try:

  1. Must play on All-American or Heisman. But you can use whatever sliders and settings you want. You must keep coaching progression no faster than "normal."

  2. You must start out as an OC or DC of a school that recently hired either position.

  3. You must start with the Tactician archetype. Why? Because OC/DCs are hired for their ability to run the offense/defense. They know the X's and O's.

  4. You can only allocate skill points within the Tactician archetype. Why? Because that is the area of expertise your job requires. It's your main focus.

  5. You can only allocate skill points within the side of the ball you are coaching. For example, if you are an OC, you can only apply skill points to skills that only affect the offense. You gain skills in the area you are working the most in. So an OC will gain skills that help him run an offense. But won't gain skills on how to run a defense because that's not his job.

  6. You can unlock another archetype when you have maxed out the skills pertaining to the side of the ball you coach within the Tactician archetype. OR become a HC. This rule and Rule 5 applies to the unlocked archetype while you are an OC/DC.

  7. Once a HC, you can allocate skill points wherever you want.

  8. You must finish at least TWO contracts as an OC/DC before you accept a HC job.

  9. No simming full seasons. If you don't want to play all of the games, you can play at least 3 of the following:

    • Season Opener
    • Home Opener/First Away Game
    • vs. Ranked
    • Conference Opener
    • Rivals
    • Homecoming Game (last home game)
    • Conference Championship
    • Bowl Game/CFP
  10. No Forcing Wins unless it's against an FCS team. I will be implementing my own Force Win logic to keep the polls and cfp realistic.

  11. You cannot schedule more than one FCS team.

  12. You can only recruit +1 star above your school's prestige. For example, 2-star schools can recruit up to 3-star players. Exception is made ONLY during the transfer portal.

  13. The goals you are chasing to be considered the GOAT are only applicable towards your HC career. Any progress towards the goals as an OC/DC do not count. You must complete at least 3 of the following goals:

    • 5+ Coach of the Year awards
    • 7+ National Championships
    • 12+ Conference Championships
    • 292+ wins
    • 19+ Bowl Wins
    • 4+ Heisman Winners
    • Win a National Championship with more than one team.

Yall can add any other rules to make it more difficult or immersive but you have to follow these 13 rules.
