Which Yankee pitcher or position player do you predict will have the most improved 2025 season compared to their 2024 season?

I think the best comeback pitcher is up for grabs and it also depends who else the Yankees add/subtract from the rotation. I think the obvious answer here would be Gerrit Cole, naturally. The guy had a big injury and came back without looking 100%. Clearly, vs the Dodgers in the WS, he pitched to 0.71 ERA in 12.1 innings. So it’s safe to say he will probably be the most improved in 2025.

But there’s also Carlos Rodon who has seen AL hitters and has experienced the tough AL East, and tough Yankee crowd enough that he is due for an under 3.00 ERA, 200k+ season.

If we keep Stroman though, he will be the one with the best chance of having the best comeback of the year from our pitchers. Why? Because all he has to do is go back to his career numbers and that would already be dramatically better than 2024.

As far as hitters go, this is tougher to foresee. First, it’s of no fault of Aaron Judge that he likely can’t improve from such a monster season. It’s certainly not expected.

Therefore this is really up for grabs for Yankees position players. It’s really up in the air because many of our hitters can definitely use some improvement. Volpe, Goldschmidt, Dominguez, DJ, Grisham, Oswaldo and Wells. All these guys have a lot of room for improvement and i’d be talking out of my ass if I name one definitively.

I’m going with Anthony Volpe. I think he found something in the postseason and he’s bringing what he learned into the 2025 season and will have that confidence at the plate of being among the best hitters in Yankees in the 2024 postseason. I think he will end up with a 5-6 WAR due to his defense and improved situational hitting.
