Is it possible that having an unpopular opinion is actually a strength rather than a weakness?

I’ve been thinking about whether having an unpopular opinion can be a strength instead of a weakness. In a world that values conformity, could holding a different view actually help us see things in new ways or challenge the status quo?

We’re often told that unpopular opinions are out of touch, but what if they actually show independent thinking and innovation? I’m curious—how can we tell if an unpopular opinion is valuable or just contrarian for the sake of it?

What do you think? Does having an unpopular opinion reflect strength, or is it just about being different?
