Helping my nervous dog adjust to the city?
We just adopted a dog last week who came from a quiet suburban area. She’s generally really calm with new people / other dogs / any enclosed space, but certain streets in the city are really freaking her out. We are in Philadelphia in a relatively quieter part of the city.
We adopted her right out of her previous home and know the 3-3-3 rule still does apply, but this is pretty much the only area she hasn’t adjusted well to so far.
Right now we are sitting with her in various areas around where we live and would walk, letting her take in the noise, rewarding with treats, but is there anything else I can do to make her more comfortable with this more stressful environment? Will this eventually go away?
