Whiplash - The weapon of Markus Ebony

Hello! I wanted to get some opinions on the weapon of my primary OC, Markus Ebony, so I thought I'd finally share the weapon I've spent the last few years trying to perfect and get some opinions! Markus didn't always have Whiplash and originally had a simple old revolver with a hidden blade in the grip, but I thought that was boring and decided to go another route. Thus, the idea of Whiplash was conceived.

Note - I apologize for the poor drawing skills / inconsistencies. Drawing is not my strong suit.

Whiplash is hollow-bladed sword, forged from the broken remains of his original weapon, that resembles that of the Inferno blade wielded by Hiccup in the HTTYD series and it has a heavy influence on the design. Whiplash is an incredibly versatile weapon with a wide array of uses which are inspired by the multi-use lightsaber of Jedi Knight Cal Kestis of the Star Wars Jedi games and serves to enhance Markus as he is an allusion to Cal.

Whiplash has three modes and two additional functions.

Mode I - Base / Full Blade | The base form of the blade is a simple hollow-bladed sword, not being anything too much. The hollow blade is intended to assist in combat by catching enemy weapons and disarming them by trapping the opponents' weapon in the hollow section. This mode is usually used when Markus is taking on opponents in a one-on-one fight.

Mode II - Dual Wield | Whiplash has a split down the center of the blade and grip that utilizes powerful magnetic locks to hold the blade together. Once the left side is pushed up and the right down, the sword then splits in half allowing for a dual wielding capability. This mode is often used more defensively against firearms or to throw opponents off-balance with a change-up in combat style.

Mode III - Double Bladed | When splitting Whiplash, instead of dual wielding the two blades, one side can be reattached inverted for a double-sided blade. This mode is usually used for defense as spinning the blade allows it to essentially act as a shield or it can be used for crowd control, being better for several opponents over the single or dual modes.

Functions | As stated, Whiplash has two functions outside of the three modes. Function #1 could very well be listed as its own mode but is more of a function a mode of itself. This is the whip mode. Along the blade, there are small slits where the blade connects magnetically, and through these slits run the cables through each section of the blade. There are two miniature cable spools inside both sides of the hilt where cable is fed through the dust capsule compartment, coated in dust, and is fed through the blade. Any mode can be used with whip function.

Whip Notes - (The total amount of cable adds up to about a total of 50ft or 15.24m of length. That is about the length of a semi-trailer. This is notably shorter than the reach of Gambol Shroud, which sits at around 90ft or 27.43m in comparison, but makes sense due to the more limited cable space inside Whiplash compared to the ribbon of Gambol Shroud, which is completely external.)

The Second function is the dust, which coats the cables that're put through its small compartment. When dust is activated, the effects will be expelled through the small slits in the blade where the cables run. Whiplash is only truly effective using Fire or Electric dust, as Ice will backfire and freeze up the cable mechanism.
