Arroyo Hondo Beach Tidepools

What's up r/SantaBarbara haven't been able to post an update about my adventures around the county since I was banned from this sub for a month lol

Just a quick one today. They recently reopened the pull off at Arroyo Honda on the southbound side of the 101. The view point is nice and has some new information boards but the beach is more my jam.

To get down to the beach is a bit of a climb down but it is so worth it.

Here you can see the original bridge for the 101 in use from 1918 until 1984. There is also a train trestle bridge that I do not know the history of.

how it looked when the bridge opened

To get down to the beach walk over to the train trestle and you'll see a rope that you can hold onto down the hill until you reach the stairs.

The beach is pristine with excellent tide pools.

This was the first time in a long time that I have seen so many Ochre Sea Stars in the tidepools. If you didn't know in 2013 California lost about 90% of its sea stars to a disease that caused them to melt away basically- Sea Star Wasting Disease
