Question About Hotel Booking (Book now, pay later) & Customs Check for Hungary

Hey everyone,

I’m traveling to Budapest from start of July, and I saw a suggestion in another Reddit post that said it’s better to book a “Book Now, Pay Later” hotel for the visa application, even if you’re actually staying with a friend. So, I went with that approach—booked a hotel but planned to stay with my Hungarian friend instead.

The thing is, I need to cancel the hotel booking two days before my acutal date of arrival, or else the payment will be auto-debited. I'm planning to cancel this accommodation if I get the Visa, but I’m wondering—

• When I arrive in Hungary, will customs check where I’m staying?
• Could they ask for proof of accommodation and verify the hotel confirmation?
• Would canceling the booking before arrival cause any issues?

Has anyone else done this before? Just want to be sure I won’t run into any problems. Thanks!
