Food poisoning

It’s been barely a day since I arrived in Siargao, and I already got food poisoning. Doctor on the island said it’s most likely Staph due to the quick onset and severity. I ate at a decent restaurant when we arrived and went to a decent cafe. For context, I arrived at Siargao early in the morning and didn’t have dinner the night before. I’m 100% sure I got it on the island. The food I ate was priced at 410 for a chicken wrap and had artisan coffee priced at 210, if it matters. I rushed to a clinic to get fluids late that night on the same day I arrived, and was diagnosed with bacterial gastroenteritis.

Has anyone had the same experience lately? I thought it was almost impossible to get food poisoning if you only ate at decent places.
