Before the Rumble, let's predict the WrestleMania Card
After Sunday, we should have a pretty good idea of how the WrestleMania card (at least at the top) will shake out, so here's my trying to make my best guess based on what we know so far before we get to that point. Obviously, I could just fantasy book this to be what I wanted, but I am trying to guess based on what we know/what's been rumored/ the current storylines.
PRESHOW 1: Cruiserweight Title: Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Hideo Itami
- Who knows what they're going to do with the Cruiserweights. This is just a guess based on who is getting pushed. I can certainly see this turning into a ladder match of some sorts with a bunch of guys.
PRESHOW 2: United States Championship: Bobby Roode (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
- I don't think this match would thrill anybody, but I just don't see what the point of Ziggler walking out is if he doesn't come back to want the belt.
PRESHOW 3: Andre The Giant Battle Royal
PRESHOW 4: Gauntlet match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships: Gable and Benjamin (c) vs. The Usos vs. The New Day vs. Rusev Day vs. Breezango vs. The Bludgeon Brothers
- The SD tag division is stacked. I don't think you can leave the Usos or New Day off the card but there isn't much else for them to do. This feels like the "everybody in the pool" match of the show to me.
MAIN SHOW 1. Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Braun Strowman
- Per the report that came out today. I assumed Miz would face Balor so I had to figure out what to do with Finn.
MAIN SHOW 2. Fatal 5-Way for the Raw Women's Championship: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks vs. Sonya Deville vs. Asuka
- If Rousey or a SD woman wins the Rumble, something like this feels likely. There is only so much room on the card and I don't see them doing 3 women's matches. So are you going to leave Nia, Sasha and Absolution off completely? Maybe, but they've had 3 multi-women matches each of the past 2 years.
MAIN SHOW 3. Kurt Angle vs. Triple H
- Again I had to adjust based off the report of Miz vs. Strowman being penciled in as I originally assumed Hunter would face Strowman. This feels like a big match they can market and it was sort of set-up at Survivor Series.
MAIN SHOW 4. Raw Tag Team Championships: The Bar (c) vs. The Balor Club (Finn Balor and Karl Anderson w/ Luke Gallows)
- This seems like a long- shot to me, but I just had nowhere else to put Finn. If the Bar don't win on Sunday, I could see Rollins and Jordan facing the Balor Club instead.
MAIN SHOW 5. Seth Rollins vs. Jason Jordan
- This one seems obvious. The question to me is, will they be facing each other as champions like Rey vs. Eddie?
MAIN SHOW 6. SmackDown Women's Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
- If this isn't Rousey, I don't know who else on SmackDown you could pair Charlotte with. Becky perhaps?
MAIN SHOW 7. Losers must leave SmackDown w/ Daniel Bryan as special guest referee: Randy Orton and Shane McMahon vs. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens
- Orton certainly would be a random throw in, but this feud weird 3-way feud between Shane, Bryan and KO/Sami needs to culminate somehow at WM.
MAIN SHOW 8. The Undertaker vs. John Cena
- Would have figured this would have been set up at Raw 25, but maybe it will happen at the Rumble.
MAIN SHOW 9. WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
- Probably the biggest case of fantasy booking one could accuse me of, but he IS the betting favorite to win the Rumble and I just don't know who else AJ could realistically face.
MAIN SHOW 10. Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns
That's 14 matches total one more than last year. The biggest names left off would be: Becky Lynch, Kane, Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt, Elias, The Riott Squad and Natalya. But there are only so many spots. What do you guys think?
