Paying for bed, eating snails

Dear all

My Thai family believes that when a guest eats snails/oysters/clams/mussels at their house; the guest should pay 1 baht.

When my Thai mother/father in law goes on a trip, they will put 1 baht on every corner of the bed in the hotel, or under the mattress.
