Can you replace rhum agricole with cachaça? (Dá pra substituir rum agricole por cachaça?)

I made two Mai Tai, one with agricole the other with cachaça, here's what've I learned:

A quick explanation as to why these two spirits are being compared, they are both made from fermented fresh cane juice, agricole is destilled in columns and cachaça is originaly distelled pot still (alambique), altought now it's common to find column distelled cachaça, as it's better to produce spirits in great quantities. The other reason I'm comparing the two is because I live in Brazil and it's extremelly hard to get rum here.

Rhum agricole used: Saint James imperial blanc (as it is the only one I could find online here in Brazil)

Jamaican rum used: Appelton Estate signature blend (My last bottle, and I can't find more on the internet)

Cachaças used: Velho Barreiro, Sagatiba (Aparrently both column distilled, but they do add sugar afterwards to bring the spirit closer to that of pot distilled ones.)

Orgeat, homemade, following these methods:

Trader Vic's Mai Tai

1oz (30ml) Rhum Agricole

1oz (30ml) Appleton Estate Signature

.25oz (7.5ml) Curacao

1oz (30ml) Lime Juice

.25oz (7.5ml) Orgeat

.25oz (7.5ml) Simple Syrup (I used demerara)

I, first, picked Sagatiba as per reviews it was the one of the least sweet cachaças, because when I got my agricole bottle and tasted it, it was as if I was drinking an unsweetend cachaça. But the Mai Tai made with Sagatiba felt "weak" and watered down, so I knew I needed something stronger.

Enter Velho Barreiro, grandpa's favourite, so the second test I made, one Mai Tai like the specs above, and one Mai Tai with the exact same specs but subbing Saint James for Velho Barreiro.

Results:

I honestly can believe it, and I'm thrilled to tell ya that you can sub cachaça for agricole, well, precisely Saint James imperial blanc for Velho Barreiro, but still, this is HUGE!, Why? Cause I'm a bit tipsy writting this, but also because the Agricole is almost impossible to find here, and when I did it cost me 200 reais (BR coin) but Velho Barreito only costs 15 reais.

Ps: I thought the cachaça Mai Tai would taste too sweet but for some reason it didn't, but you can still add a little less sugar to your agricole cocktails when subbing it with cachaça. Posting this in different subs to get more people to see the results. (Se vc é BR e não entende inglês, só joga no tradutor.)
