Leaving the USA
G'day from Australia
I'm seeing a lot of posts about how live under facism and very little planning about getting passports or visa etc. so I wanted to create a space to discuss leaving the USA.
I know it's not simple or easy and everyone's situation is different, but please explore: * Obviously anyone with dual citizenship or ancestral options should be long gone, I'm assuming that's not you. * Do you have skills that could get you priority into a country? I will create a comment about Australia's VERY BROAD skilled list which can help get you a visa here (and pathway to citizenship) * If the company you work for is international is there any option to relocate to another country with them? Is there a role that could allow this? * What countries are safe for you? Do they have student / tourist visas and what are they? * What work options would you have in that country? Are your qualifications recognised there? * How does your currency stretch there? Are you expecting that to change? * Is it close to neighbouring country with similar visa requirements you could bounce between if needed (eg. It used to be as an Australia you can go to Thailand pretty much indefinitely by doing a "border run" every 3 months to a neighbouring country. You get a stamp in your passport and come back the same day. There are bus trips specifically for this because there are so many Aussies there long term. They don't actually have citizenship they just... live there)
I don't want to panic anyone that's not my intention. I'd just like to shift the conversation from accepting and adapting to becoming a subjegated class (as a woman), to leaving.
Happy to help anyone plan...
