People bringing cats to an off-leash park?
Over the past few weeks there have been 3 separate groups of people at my local off leash park with their cats. One of these people has their cat on a leash, but the other two groups I see have their vehicle doors open and are just letting their cat roam around nearby.
Has anyone else noticed this recently? It does appear that some of the cat owners may be living in their vehicles (expensive sprinters, not regular cars), so I can appreciate that the animals may need exercise, but surely a busy and popular off-leash area is not the right place for this?
Am I wrong in thinking that bringing your cat to an off leash dog park is irresponsible? The majority of the nearby parks are not off-leash, so why are the cat owners not going there? As everyone on this subreddit is aware, permitted off-leash spaces are very limited now throughout Victoria and Saanich, so while I used to have 4 off-leash parks within walking distance, this is now the only one with no time restrictions. I just don’t understand why someone would choose to put their cat in such a high risk situation. Are there any bylaws in place that govern cats in this scenario?
Curious to hear the communities thoughts on this.
