They don't even know what the sermons are about

Every time I see my fam after church I ask them what the sermon was about. They always act like they are taken off guard and instantly babble that it was good or they liked it and parrot some statement or phrase like it even means anything. Then I either repeat again ,"so what was it about ?" Or "well what does that mean?"

It's like they don't realize that they can't even sum up what is about.

Then one of them said , "I don't even know why you ask". I'm obviously giving the benefit of the doubt that the sermon could be actually saying something and is therefore worth talking about and they can't even roll with that!

Pastors are very good at spewin a bunch of hot air, and pretending that it's a well reasoned sound essay, when it is so poorly crafted and all over the place that their own flock can't tell you what the sermon is about!

Any thoughts?

Edit: I did not anticipate the ways that I would benefit from all your thoughtful replies. This has been good for me in multiple ways. Thank you so much.
