New meds...Divalproex ER (aka Depakote)

I was just put on Divalproex ER cause my doc suspects I have PMDD along with Bipolar. I was really worried about taking it, as my ex took it for epilepsy, and my sister was on a high dose for Bipolar, both lost their hair and gained weight. I'm only on 250mg, and so far have lost my appetite.. First night I got sick and vomited 3 hours after taking it. Second night, nausea Third night, nausea again

Today is my first day back at work after starting it, and I feel some how MORE irritated? I guess my question is, what are peoples experience with it? I know if my call my Doc, she'll just tell me to go off of it if I dont feel good, but I think i should give it some time at the very least
