Mourning someone who is still living

How do you cope with the loss of someone physically here, but mentally gone? My mom is not the same anymore. She’s extremely paranoid, homeless, & unemployed. There’s no conversation to be had at this point, because she’s very defensive & accusatory. I had to move out of state because of her.
