Dune 2 nitpick (spoilers)

So one of my biggest questions going into this moive was how is Denis going to adapt Alia, one of the weirdest and thornest elements of the book. He side stepped the problem by making her conscious in utero, but she isn't born in the run time of the film, therefore avoiding any of the pitfalls of depicting a child with a quote unquote "adult mind." But where does this leave the viewer? Because if there's one thing about pregnancy everyone knows is that they last nine months. I'm usually not the type to nitpick over things like timing, I tend to embrace moive logic. But when the film both highlights the pregnancy, as well as has a sort of heroic trials montage, it gives the impression that the film is working on two separate time scales. That is to say it's a bit of a stumbling block. It's not terminal but it is a bit awkward and careless for an otherwise very enjoyable film.
