Beggers Colombo St McDonalds

Seeing the same team of 3. I drive past work days and been in twice on the last month. Was sitting in the car park yesterday so got to watch for a while - Man and possibly his partner perched on plastic crates (stools) then an older guy with a dog appears occasionally. Provided a new sign then left again. It was heavily raining the night before yet 7.30am these 2 appeared clean clothed & dry - although bare footed. It appears the older guy was managing. Annoying greeting to McDonald’s. City mission is blocks away and I know provide free meals, accommodation social workers and day programmes & other social services. Am I being harsh? I think if the same amount of hours perched at the drive through entrance were spent attending a group, training, volunteer role or working for these able bodied, socially capable ( happy to reach out, engage and interact with ‘givers’) a much more productive use of time and contribution to themselves and community. I suspect this is some kind of scam group that live close by? I know there are some legit people in need just not convinced this it the case here. I do give but to charity organisations or food bank but not cash to individuals (or food- seen this thrown away in the past)
