How to protect chrome from weather

Hello, i have old iron joints wich conects frame and outer shutters. I would like to plate that rusted iron with shiny chrome spray but because our home is wery close to sea and its exposed to weather conditions i don't know how many years will that shiny chrome last. I know not for long that's for sure but how will i protect it? Thanks.
