Can you link two separate computers together and use simultaniously?

I have a gaming desktop and a school laptop, and I would like to be able to do the schoolwork that's stored on my laptop easily on my desktop. I have two monitors connected to my desktop, and I'd prefer to use the second monitor to display my laptop, and use the same keyboard and mouse for both at the same time. I found kvm switches online, but it seemed that they worked only either or, and not simultaneously. Essentially, I'm wanting my laptop to display on one monitor, my desktop to display on another monitor, and to use the same keyboard and mouse for both. Is this possible?
