Can you go on disability with the aim of returning to form and then go back to work?

I’m going through a lot of health stuff and being out of work as much as I have been is putting a real strain on everything.

I’m just curious if you can be on disability, and then return to the work force?

Or should I just drive my car into the Atlantic and avoid homelessness now?
