French language question

Hello there,

English phrase- whom do you live with? My french translation- Qui habitez-Vous avec?

But according to duolingo this is wrong but I had other website auto corrected and it shows my translation to French is correct.

Duolingo mentions the correct translation is Avec qui habitez-Vous?

Now my question is how do we know where to insert avec word, apparently everyone says not to make literal translation from English to French as the language has its own way of sentence structure but how do we know where to insert what words when we are knowledgeable about total number of exact words which when assembled together in a right way mean the same thing that’s whom do you live with? Please help!!
