Does anyone also have this?
Hello everyone! I stumbled upon this subreddit like a few hours ago and I am so happy, that I am not alone in this …
So I’ve had this sensation of my ear clogging up since the beginning of last year. It only affects my left ear and it basically feels like hearing through cheap headphones. I cannot hear deep tones at all so if I listen to music that has a bass tone, my left ear is completely unaware of it and the rest just sounds very distant like something is clogging up my ear.
It was a very stressful time for me, so when it happened the first time around, I got really panicked and went straight to an ENT who didn’t do much other than tell me that it’s just stress and that I should try to calm down. It used to go away during the day but recently (actually exactly on the first of January this year) I’ve experienced this symptom of my ear closing up for two days straight, almost every two weeks whereas last year it was maybe once a month and only for a day …
So I figured, that I should get checked up by another doctor. He was very understanding of my issues and promptly diagnosed me with ETD and told me to do exercises like pinching my nose and blowing while keeping my mouth closed. He also gave me a nasal spray to use alongside. He asked me if I had any allergies or a cold recently which I denied and he was very confused about that. But I feel like my ETD gets triggered by stress but that’s just my personal hunch…
It’s been two weeks since I have gone to the doctor and it’s kind of worse now? Like I have it several times in a week which is very new and I sometimes have a sharp pain coming and going on my affected ear … it concerns me very much and doesn’t help my anxiety one bit. I also sometimes hear my pulse in that ear … my next appointment is in two weeks and I wish this would just stop and go back to normal again I always fear that i’ll completely loose my hearing at one point. I’m really scared …
Has anyone else have a similar experience and want to share it here? It is somehow very comforting to see other people dealing with the same issue. I hope for all of us here, that it’ll be ok again soon ♥️
