Question for PDM Sedley Owners
Long story short:
After hearing about how PDM's Sedley smells a little bit like Sprite and that it's supposed to have a respectable longevity as well even though it is a freshy ever since they reformulated it a few years ago, I decided to buy myself a bottle from a trustworthy seller online.
So far, so good, but sadly all I can smell from it is a ton of mint in the opening and a hint of musk in the drydown. No lemon whatsoever and it doesn't project much either. It gets even worse however, because it's longevity is by far the worst in my whole collection... doesn't even last more than at max 3 hours on paper/clothes and it's even less on my skin. So no sprite, no longevity and also not really any projection. My bottle is from 2023 by the way.
First I thought that maybe the problem is me and that I'm not able to detect the smell because something is wrong with my nose or that maybe the fragrance desperately needs the summer heat to perform properly, but when I went to a store yesterday to explore a few other fragrances, there also was a Sedley tester and I gave it a try just to be sure.
Now, guess what: I was actually able to smell the sprite in it! And it was exactly how I was expecting it to be originally when reading through the notes and all those reviews. The longevity of it as well as the projection far exceeded whatever my bottle at home was doing even though less sprays were used.
To those of you who own a bottle of Sedley or used to own one: Why do you think mine is performing so poorly? It smells like the version in the store minus the lemon and is just WAY weaker in every single aspect except MAYBE the mint in it. Does it need to macerate some more (the bottle there was about 65% full) or did it get reformulated yet again? Or... do you think that I might have bought a fake? Again, the site where I bought it from is legit, but I'm slowly starting to have my concerns... Maybe they just stored it poorly?
Edit: Looks like it needed a little bit of fresh air to age some more, because after roughly 1.5 months it acutally smells and performs how it'supposed to. Kinda cringe that PdM sends out their frangrances like that though and surely not the best idea if you want good reviews as most people probably would have sold their bottle at this point after leaving a negative comment somewhere.
